MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SONGS ...REVISED with TWO MORE!!!

As most of you have already noticed, I love music.   All kinds but mostly my heart falls in pure ROCK AND FUCKING ROLL.  Mostly classics from 70s and 80s but over the years I have run across a few songs that I cannot stop listening to....THEY NEVER GET OLD.  I am writing this as there is a song by the Bee Gees my dad used to love and I can listen to it 5 times in a row and it never gets old....to this day.  With that said here is a list of some of the songs I listen to and for some reason they just never tire me out. You will also notice its NOT songs from my all time favorite bands as I like almost everything by my favorites so picking one is ridiculous.   These are also songs that the FIRST time I heard them I was hooked and never looked back.   These select songs are perfect at painting a picture and not many songs can do that.  The CLASSICS always do......ENJOY playing in my mind for a while.
___________________________________________________________________

FIRST is my ALL TIME FAVORITE....I decided this was it as I was driving with my son the other day and it came on and I was like "This is it" spanning my entire music library in my head this is the one song I can always go to if I need to sing loud or smile or whatever.  Its  absolutely perfect.  And because the ORIGINAL is the ORIGINAL its the post....every version of this song is amazing.

The Police "Message In A Bottle" (from the album Reggatta De Blanc - 1979)

LIVE MUSIC

There's an old saying from REAL Musicians.....
"If you can't play it live, you can't really play it"

and NOTHING is more true than the following posts.....

Here are some of the songs by some of the bands that have moved me throughout the years of my life.....

A golden yellow background with dark green impressions of leaves on it and the words "GREEN" and "R.E.M." written on top in black
"This is my world
And I am world leader pretend
This is my life
And this is my time
I have been given the freedom
To do as I see fit
It's high time I've razed the walls
That I've constructed"

R.e.M. is one of my all time favorite bands and seeing them for the second time in 1989 for the GREEN tour at LSU was just amazing.  THIS song was one of my top R.E.M. songs before and it became my all time favorite because of this version.....ENJOY

File:BobSegerLiveBullet.jpgBOB SEGER - TURN THE PAGE (1976)
"Out there in the spotlight
You're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy
You try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body
Like the music that you play"

FUCKING AMAZING!!!! STILL!!!!....I can't get enough of this song and I used to not really like it.  Once I sat and listened to it and could hear the crowd at points and just the overall passion of this song is just ridiculous.  THIS IS A CLASSIC!!!!....you have to turn this up....

METALLICA - NO LEAF CLOVER (1999)

"Says it feels right this timeTurned it 'round and found the right line“Good day to be alive, sir
Good day to be alive,” he says"

I was knocked out of my chair the first time I heard this.  Just so heavy and with the San Francisco Symphony just makes it.

METALLICA - FOUR HORSEMAN (1989)
"Time has taken its toll on you
The lines that crack your face
Famine, your body it has torn through
Withered in every place
Pestilence, for what you had to endure
And what you have put others through
Death, deliverance for you for sure
Now there's nothing you can do"

2:37 is when I OFFICIALLY became a Metallica fan.  That transition is one of the most intense and abrupt ever.  No one other than TOOL or Rush can switch gears like that.  ENJOY and its LIVE from 1989. The crowd at Metallica shows in that day were just out of control crazy...If you didn't see them LIVE at that time you missed it.  Hopefully this and the next video catch the intensity.

METALLICA - BLACKENED (1989)
"Callous frigid chillNothing left to killNever seen beforeBreathing nevermore"

The next video.  The long intro makes it.  Every Metallica show starts with The Good, The Bad and The Ugly graveyard scene and music and just hits a crescendo and then they start.....ITS INTENSE and the FUCK YEAH at the end sums up an ENTIRE Metallica show.  Brutal from start to finish.

IRON MAIDEN - FEAR OF THE DARK (1992)
"Have you ever been alone at night
Thought you heard footsteps behind
And turned around and no one's there?
And as you quicken up your pace
You find it hard to look again
Because you're sure there's
someone there"

Ok this song might have jump started Iron Maiden's career as they were in limbo for a little while and then this came out and it skyrocketed.  The LIVE version captures what an Iron Maiden show is all about.  And to this day is played at every Iron Maiden show.   UP THE IRONS!!!

SCORPIONS - BLACKOUT (1984)

"I grab my things and make my run
On the way out, another one
Would like to know before I stop
Did I make it or did I flop
Don't want to find out
Just want to get out"

Another CLASSIC....just watch the kids go fucking bonkers in beginning....captures METAL fans from the past and still today...metal fans are the most loyal EVER.....CHEERS

VAN HALEN - HEAR BOUT IT LATER, SO THIS IS LOVE and UNCHAINED (1981)

This list would not have been a list of LIVE shows without seeing these 3 VH songs with Roth on vocals AND all 3 songs are from FAIR WARNING the best VH album.....if you have never seen these you are not old enough and never watched MTV in early days.....THIS IS WHAT VAN HALEN WAS....just WATCH and KEEP THE VOLUME UP

JUDAS PRIEST - HELLION/ELECTRIC EYE (1982)

"Up here in space
I'm looking down on you.
My lasers trace
Everything you do."

Same for this video as Judas Priest and MTV went hand in hand in the beginning and this concert hit me in the face.  The motorcycle, the leather and the music are JUDAS PRIEST.  ENJOY

Oldies? DAMN I am OLD!!!!!

So I am going to my 30th Grade School reunion next week in New Orleans.  First of all, this is NOT High School, this is grade school so K thru 8th grade and we lived in the best time for music.  Think late 70s early 80s.....so the beginning of MTV, NWOBHM, AC/DC - Back in Black, KISS, The Police, Culture Club,....basically every form of music you could think of and this was before most of the great 80s tunes we know today.

Anyway these are the cheesier, yet awesome ones I have found.  Just sing along, you know you want to.

Some of these are so bad but that is what makes them awesome.  Check out the ones I lifted from shows like Solid Gold so they're lip synced.

TURN IT UP and SING ALONG!!!!

Cheers fuckers.

DEAR BAD MUSICIANS....

The OFFICIAL FUCK YOU EDITION to the current state of music

***REPOST***the first one was jacked up.....but yes it still applies today....

THIS IS AN OFFICIAL LETTER TO Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Maroon 5, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Hinder, Daughtry, Nickelback, My Morning Jacket, ALL current pop and rap artists, but especially Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, Hollywood Undead and SO ON.....
Frank Zappa
(circa a long time ago)
NOTE:  The reason I included bands such as Arcade Fire and Hollywood Undead are that you hear how they are the GREATEST GROUP since the last band they tried to shove down our throats and when you hear them, its good but its not what the hype is.....Hollywood Undead is the same 90s rap/rock but the guys look like Slipknot....WOW record companies you really did some research here.

And really? Adam Levine you are tatted up like some badass but you sing "MOOOOVES like Jagger" with a gay whistling guy in the background.  And you probably wear Ed Hardy and Affliction gear.

Also,.......the LIST DOES NOT INCLUDE Bruno Mars and Katy Perry as at least they are SOMEWHAT ORIGINAL.....but if you use that autotune or that gay repetitive club beat like Pitbull or that Enrique Iglesias horrible song "Dirty Dancer" with none other than Lil Wayne and Usher where they repeat Dirty Dancer over and over again and then in the middle Lil Wayne mumbles like a fucking idiot.........

Basically this has been a constant struggle for me but I HATE / LOATHE the current state of music, If current state of music is defined by music while I am listening.
So with that said I don't like the radio EVER.
And I especially don't like corporate radio as it ruins music at the expense of making money and artists NEVER get a chance to evolve anymore unless you are one of the chosen.   We ALL know record companies control this so its flavor of the month and you have to play a certain number of songs so many times in one day.
Pop radio is REALLY bad at this which is why you will hear the same song almost every hour.

Pink Floyd

I guess what I am getting at radio finds something beats the FUCK out of it rather than be smart and explore.
For example, are you telling me that the only Pink Floyd songs that are good are the ones on the radio and 90% of the listeners have the albums so would like to hear DEEPER cuts.

The BEST example I can think of is NEW ROCK stations playing "Fight For Your Right" by the Beastie Boys when that is the WORST representation of a what the Beastie Boys are and anyone who listens would welcome MORE Beastie Boys, but Program Directors EVERYWHERE have massive egos and think they know better than the masses......PLEASE READ BELOW

Ike and Tina Turner

(probably during her daily beatings....NOT GOOD)

Dear BAD MUSICIANS,

Please stop making this thing you call music. As I write this, my ears are bleeding and I'm taking four different prescriptions to keep the seizures your music causes at bay. Enclosed, please find the picture of a dead bird. This bird did not die by being hit by a car. No, I happened to have my windows open playing your atrocious music and it simply fell from the sky. If I believed in a God, I would take this as a sign to stop playing your music.

Grace Slick
(WAY before "We Built This City")
Please go back to days when musicians made me feel as though they cared about what they made.

CASH!!!

and Thank you.
Regards,
GOOD MUSIC and the MASSES

CUNT
and this is directed at Lady Gaga for being a fucking moron

I guess Suge Knight got the last laugh.  Sorry 2Pac

Pull your damn pants up you fucking asshole
