MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SONGS ...REVISED with TWO MORE!!!

As most of you have already noticed, I love music.   All kinds but mostly my heart falls in pure ROCK AND FUCKING ROLL.  Mostly classics from 70s and 80s but over the years I have run across a few songs that I cannot stop listening to....THEY NEVER GET OLD.  I am writing this as there is a song by the Bee Gees my dad used to love and I can listen to it 5 times in a row and it never gets old....to this day.  With that said here is a list of some of the songs I listen to and for some reason they just never tire me out. You will also notice its NOT songs from my all time favorite bands as I like almost everything by my favorites so picking one is ridiculous.   These are also songs that the FIRST time I heard them I was hooked and never looked back.   These select songs are perfect at painting a picture and not many songs can do that.  The CLASSICS always do......ENJOY playing in my mind for a while.
___________________________________________________________________

FIRST is my ALL TIME FAVORITE....I decided this was it as I was driving with my son the other day and it came on and I was like "This is it" spanning my entire music library in my head this is the one song I can always go to if I need to sing loud or smile or whatever.  Its  absolutely perfect.  And because the ORIGINAL is the ORIGINAL its the post....every version of this song is amazing.

The Police "Message In A Bottle" (from the album Reggatta De Blanc - 1979)

The next song is arguably my SECOND favorite song of all time as we were driving through San Diego the first time I heard it and was floored.  STILL today!!!!!!

Foo Fighters "The Pretender" (from the album Echoes Silence Patience Grace - 2007)

________________________________________________________

I had to add these THREE as they are FUCKING AWESOME!!!!

Blue Oyster Cult "Burnin' For You" (from the album Fire Of Unknown Origin -1981)

The Tubes "Talk To Ya Later" (from the album Complete Backwards Principle - 1981)

Metallica "Sabbra Cadabra" (from the album Garage Inc - 1998)

For the next TWO I had to include both of these song as they are both so powerful and fall into the "every time" category....Frusciante is the man for backing vocals and guitar

Red Hot Chili Peppers "Otherside" (from the album Californication - 1999)

Red Hot Chili Peppers "Californication"  (from the album Californication - 1999)

Toad The Wet Sprocket "Nightingale Song" (from the album Fear - 1991)

R.E.M. "World Leader Pretend" (video from the movie Tourfilm) (from the album Green 1988)

The House Of Love "You Don't Understand" (from the album Babe Rainbow - 1992)

The Replacements - "Alex Chilton" (from the album Pleased To Meet Me - 1987)

Seven Mary Three "My My" (from the album American Standard - 1995)

OK so here we go again with TWO songs by Peter Murphy but I could not post one without the other.....both phenomenal and deep in so many ways....JUST LISTEN

SMILE…The Other Side of Rock Part 1

This is a quick college rock version of the songs that make me grin….and again I know I am missing a bunch, I know I could post 20 R.E.M. songs and Pixies but these just jam and while many are familiar to you that is the point to make you enjoy some tunes while you prepare…….ENJOY

also I tossed in a couple of classics that to this day STILL move me….ex. Peter Murphy and the Sundays

Hoodoo Gurus

“I look in your eyes and it’s understood”

Pixies
“keeps a smile around a while
he took no fright and jettisoned
we’ll go tonight to hear him tell
‘oh well’”

Psychedelic Furs
“In the bedroom down the hall
your secrets sleep
it is always late at night
won’t you stay?
why don’t you stay?”

R.E.M…..STILL my favorite song by them…..
“Trust in your calling, make sure your calling’s true
Think of others, the others think of you
Silly rule golden words make, practice, practice makes perfect,
Perfect is a fault, and fault lines change”

The Charlatans UK

“The only one I know, never cries, never open her eyes
The only one I know, wide awake and then she’s away
The only one I see, is mine when she walks down our street
The only one I see, has carved her way in to me”

BONUS: R.EM….arguably my 2nd favorite song and best version of this!!!
A golden yellow background with dark green impressions of leaves on it and the words "GREEN" and "R.E.M." written on top in black
“I sit at my table and wage war on myself
It seems like it’s all, it’s all for nothing
I know the barricades, and
I know the mortar in the wall breaks
I recognize the weapons, I used them well”

Peter Murphy
“You know the way it twists and turns
Changing colour, Spinning yarns
You know the way it leaves you dry
It cuts you up and takes you high”

Lemonheads
“Waiting for something to break
Left my heart out to bake
Nothing there in my glass
Wasn’t never made to last
Hope in my past”

BONUS:  Pixies
“keeping low doesn’t make no sense
sometimes people can be oh so dense
they didn’t want it but he built it anyway”

Hope you enjoyed the quickie ….feel free to add comments….I wanted to add more but I am busy….
Stay safe NOLA
Hurricane Isaac…..You can recover from this one

With the weather in Houston being off and on and my kids being sick, dog being sick and so on, I just want to relax to some songs that make me feel good inside.
I guess you can call the first few songs "GUILTY PLEASURES AGAIN" , but you can also not call it shit and just enjoy the music.  Some of these songs are absolutely PERFECT in my eyes and I suggest listening on headphones.
And by the way this is across many genres so just listen.....I have also started to put some of my favorite lyrics ahead of the song to let you feel what I feel when I hear these songs.
ENJOY!!!!! and feel free to comment where necessary.

First time I heard this it blew me off my chair....its freaking powerful!
"I looked into your eyes and saw a world that does not exist.
I looked into your eyes and saw a world i wish i was in.
I'll never find someone quite as touched as you
I'll never love someone quite the way that i loved you"

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Especially In Michigan (2006)
This fucking album is so underrated especially the guitar work and backing vocals by Frusciante.REVEL in it because its his last as part of RHCP.
"Throw me in the looney bin
'Cause I can take it on the chin
The cleavage of your pillow skin
(Is moving like a violin)"

BONUS because I absolutely LOVE this song.
Frusciante is to RHCP as Michael Anthony was to Van Halen in the backing vocals category.
"Hot as Hades early eighties ,
Sing another song and make me feel like I'm in love again - yeah
(how i lose the way i am)"

Shiny Toy Guns - You Are The One (2006)
No clue why I like this song so much I just do .....DON'T JUDGE ME
actually I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG.....80s throwback
"I try - to digest my pride
But passions grip i fear
When i climb - into shallow vats of wine
I think i almost hear - but its not clear"

Seriously this fucking song is still fucking amazing.
"The world was on fire and no one could save me but you
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do"

_____________________________________________
Whatever you do PLEASE listen to this on headphones as this is one of the most amazing songs on headphones.  So much going on in this song from Johnette Napolitano's stellar voice to eerie sounds in the very back.
Also I could have placed the entire album up here because its one of the most underrated albums of all time.
AND you're welcome
"In another life I see you as an angel flying high
And the hands of time will free you
You will cast your chains aside"
_____________________________________________

SAME applies to the next song except its Peter Murphy's voice with same weird noises in  second verse.....TURN IT UP
ANOTHER one of my ALL TIME favorite songs for so many reasons
"You know the way
It leaves you dry
It cuts you up
And takes you high"

GUILTY PLEASURE ALERT!!!!!
This song is just so freaking awesome STILL....prove me wrong and that gay pic on the right is awesomely gay.
"Some people work for a living,
Some people work for fun,
Girl, I just work for you."
File:Wham! Make It Big album art.JPG

FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!
"Now I'm not looking for absolution,
Forgiveness for the things I do.
But before you come to any conclusions
Try walking in my shoes"

_____________________________________________

I know this song is TIRED to some but listen on headphones again....INCREDIBLE!!!
"She gets some static walking through the door
They call her a killer, and they call her a sinner, And they call her a whore
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in her shoes
Cause then you really might know what it's like to have to choose"
_____________________________________________

Jimmy Page, Chris Slade, Paul Rodgers, Tony Franklin
"They say our life was just a fairy tale
No matter how we try, we must surely fail
But where are they now and could they ever understand
This ivory tower was built on rock, not sand"
_____________________________________________

and for the record.....album covers are just not as cool as the way they used to be
"Love was here and gone like a thief in the night"

_____________________________________________
END WITH THESE TWO

OK maybe this album cover is a throwback but then again so is Grohl
What a GREAT SONG by a band that just NEVER puts out bad music....the ONLY fresh sound from TODAY....and the album version has Bob Mould singing background on it.
"False starts, young hearts get shattered
Pick up the pieces coming down around you
You ran away, ran away, it was right on cue"

"Don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keepin' me down"

GOOD NIGHT KIDS....was it good enough for ya?

LSU 12-0 We're takin' over this town

It's the weekend and time for 12-0 LSU Tigers.....let me say that again.....The 12-0 LSU TIGERS to travel to Atlanta to take ...
