Music....ADHD version

Foo Fighters – Bridge Burning (2011 LIVE on Letterman)

NOW that I have your attention I wanted to give you something to make you smile, rock, tap feet, bounce leg up and down or play air drums.    I named it ADHD version because it is songs of different variety and tempo.
Whatever just read, click and ENJOY.

Also, this will be all over the map so it will consist of many genres but all with one goal in mind……  To make you happy.  And who knows I might toss a racing theme or some kind of drinking theme or just plain old good fucking weather.  The kind of weather that you would skip class for and sit on the patio and drink.  …..don’t forget, its me for god’s sake.

CHEESY SMILE TUNES…Guilty Pleasures PT. 5 or something like that

NOW THAT I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION…..
Another weekend approaches but in the FALL it seems so much more refreshing.
I can’t wait to watch my 4 year old girl play soccer as that is just a mess but its 4 year old soccer so that.   My 10 year old plays football and youth football is KEY so that too.
Just the feeling of being outside when the weather is nicer is just great to look forward to.  With that some tunes to sit back and let the breeze hit you while you reminisce back to a simpler time in your life.
I would KILL to know what they are talking about.
Some familiar some not so familiar and some that I just never get too much of.
Basically 70s and 80s tunes that I like and all are cheesy in their own cheesy way.   This could be lesser known songs by famous artists or THAT OTHER HIT.  Whatever just fucking listen.
Consider this Guilty Pleasures Part 5 or something like that and yes ASIA makes an appearance.
This should be in TWO PARTS…CHEESE and JAM…ENJOY!!!!

SMILE…The Other Side of Rock Part 1

This is a quick college rock version of the songs that make me grin….and again I know I am missing a bunch, I know I could post 20 R.E.M. songs and Pixies but these just jam and while many are familiar to you that is the point to make you enjoy some tunes while you prepare…….ENJOY

also I tossed in a couple of classics that to this day STILL move me….ex. Peter Murphy and the Sundays

Hoodoo Gurus

“I look in your eyes and it’s understood”

Pixies
“keeps a smile around a while
he took no fright and jettisoned
we’ll go tonight to hear him tell
‘oh well’”

Psychedelic Furs
“In the bedroom down the hall
your secrets sleep
it is always late at night
won’t you stay?
why don’t you stay?”

R.E.M…..STILL my favorite song by them…..
“Trust in your calling, make sure your calling’s true
Think of others, the others think of you
Silly rule golden words make, practice, practice makes perfect,
Perfect is a fault, and fault lines change”

The Charlatans UK

“The only one I know, never cries, never open her eyes
The only one I know, wide awake and then she’s away
The only one I see, is mine when she walks down our street
The only one I see, has carved her way in to me”

BONUS: R.EM….arguably my 2nd favorite song and best version of this!!!
A golden yellow background with dark green impressions of leaves on it and the words "GREEN" and "R.E.M." written on top in black
“I sit at my table and wage war on myself
It seems like it’s all, it’s all for nothing
I know the barricades, and
I know the mortar in the wall breaks
I recognize the weapons, I used them well”

Peter Murphy
“You know the way it twists and turns
Changing colour, Spinning yarns
You know the way it leaves you dry
It cuts you up and takes you high”

Lemonheads
“Waiting for something to break
Left my heart out to bake
Nothing there in my glass
Wasn’t never made to last
Hope in my past”

BONUS:  Pixies
“keeping low doesn’t make no sense
sometimes people can be oh so dense
they didn’t want it but he built it anyway”

Hope you enjoyed the quickie ….feel free to add comments….I wanted to add more but I am busy….
Stay safe NOLA
Hurricane Isaac…..You can recover from this one

Smile 2....You Can't Stop Rock And Roll

This blog is dedicated to good taste…..in music
Due to overwhelming response from all of 2 people….Dre and Mike C, I have added some more….and yes this is fucking incredibly awesome.  Put on your helmet and again add more if you want as I know I am missing some but too much is too much and too little just gets you started but doesn’t finish the job.  This is just right…to me at least.
This is the COOL album cover version of this SMILE edition.  FRAME EM if you got em.
And basically its all ROCK since they had all of the legendary covers……and notice the lyrics how deep on most of them….and as far as music…..and yes Journey, STYX and REO qualify.  The REO song is just a classic that never gets old.
…and it begins with one of my favorite rock songs ever…..and the intro the video with kids rocking captures the essence of 80s rock and dedication of metal fans even to this day…..CHEERS
SCORPIONS
“My head explodes, my ears ring
I can’t remember just where I’ve been”

WHITE LION

“I’ve been drivin’ all night, my hand’s wet on the wheel
There’s a voice in my head, that drives my heel
It’s my baby callin’, says, ‘I need you here’
Ans it’s half past four, and I’m shifting gear”
WARRANT

“They didn’t see me and Tom in the trees.
Neither one believing what the other could see.
Tossed in the bodies, let ‘em sink on down.
To the bottom of the well where they’d never be found”

RAINBOW

“Your words like ice fall on the ground
Breaking the silence without a sound”

TRIUMPH

“I’m tired of playin foolish games
I’m tired of all your lies makin me insane
I don’t ask for much the truth will do just fine
Won’t you lay it on the line”
JOURNEY

“When the summer’s gone she’ll be there standing by the light
Once she’s been to where she’s gone to she should know wrong from right
Is she feeling
Are you feeling
You feeling that way too?
Or am I just
Am I just a fool”

AC/DC    ….there is Bon Scott AC/DC and there is the other guy
“It’s criminal
There ought to be a law
Criminal
There ought to be a whole lot more
You get nothing for nothing
Tell me who can you trust
We got what you want
And you got the lust”
FASTWAY
“Nowhere To Run
Nowhere To Hide
What You Doin’ To Me
All This Jive”

APRIL WINE……and a killer jam for the last bit of the song

“Get my saddle and tie it on
Western wind who is fast and strong
Jump on back, he’s good and long
We’ll resist till we reach the dawn
Running seems like the best offense
Staying just don’t make any sense”

SKID ROW
“The vaseline gypsies and silicone souls
Dressed to the society
Hypocrite heartbeat and cheap alibis
Can´t get you by that monkey”

DIO
“If we’re evil or divine
we’re the last in line”

JUDAS PRIEST  ….I put the pic of the 45 on here because it rocked

“Making a curve or taking the strain
On the decline, or out on the wain
Oh everybody breaks down sooner or later”

VAN HALENVan Halen - So This Is Love Lyrics
“Goin’ outta my way, know my way around
The grass is never greener an’ there plenty around
All the other girls, they be put to shame
Over the edge and here I stay”

REO SPEEDWAGON …..Ok so I put two on here File:Ridinthestormout.jpg

“Ridin’ the storm out, waitin’ for the thaw out
On a full moon night in the rocky mountain winter.
My wine bottle’s low, watching for the snow
I’ve been thinking lately of what I’m missing in the city.”

File:REO Speedwagon Hi Infidelity CD cover.JPG
“You’re thinking up your white lies
You’re putting on your bedroom eyes
You say you’re coming home but you won’t say when
But I can feel it coming
If you leave tonight keep running
And you need never look back again”

DOOBIE BROTHERS ….One of my all time favorite jams…….listen to all of it….ENJOY
“Take this message to my brother
You will find him…everywhere
Wherever people live together
Tied in poverty’s despair
Are you…telling me the things you’re gonna do for me
I ain’t blind and I don’t like what I think I see”

LETS GO BONUS…..and yes I saw this tour in 82, 83 and 84…..ENJOY

….and as always…..YOU CAN’T STOP ROCK & ROLL…..

TWISTED SISTER
“Like a charging bull, It’s a juggernaut
With steam at full, never to be caught
Incarnate power, roaring from the sky
While others cower,  ROCK AIN’T GONNA DIE”

Dark Knight Rises while Aurora Mourns

I took my son and his two cousins to see Dark Knight Rises this morning so they could be a part of movie history.
I wanted them to experience what I had growing up with the success of Star Wars leading to ridiculously long lines for Star Wars Empire Strikes Back (below), Indiana Jones and E.T.
This was one of the highlights of my young adult life as many would camp out, but we would ride our bikes to Lakeside Cinema on Veterans Highway in Metairie, La.
I now have a 10 year old boy who is just starting to enjoy movies with me so I am living vicariously through him as a boy.  We watched Die Hard the other night and it was great seeing it with someone who had never seen it.  We also watched Jaws and most of the James Bond movies and he is starting to enjoy movies from my time growing up.
Regarding the release of the Dark Knight Rises, this was supposed to be the biggest opening in movie history with a take of around $200 million plus.  Until last night when that loser in Aurora decided to take out whatever frustration he has at the world.
It’s unfortunate and frustrating that what should have been a joyous weekend celebrating excellence in movies is marred by the senseless killing 12 innocent people and injuring 59 others.  These people had no clue what was happening and quite honestly will have a very hard time going to the movies ever again.  I hope they can someday return to see the magic of movies.

RIP to families and people in Aurora, CO
I hope we don’t get to a day when we can’t even enjoy movies without being subjected to metal detectors.

Just my thoughts.

Have a good weekend.

TODAY'S POP MUSIC

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July and fuck you Chris Rock as we live in America and as Americans united we celebrate together all races but you seem to want to live in the past.  So fuck you....now to why I wrote this today

I read this article this morning where Adele's '21' is leading 2012 album sales with  her take being more than the combined total of the next four albums and is the only title to exceed sales of 1 million copies.  So what does this mean other than the obvious?  POP MUSIC IS OFFICIALLY DEAD.

How can an album that came out in early 2011 still be dominating album charts?

Well lets look at the rest of the Top 5 and this will explain a LOT.
and keep an eye out for NUMBER 5
_____________________________

211. Adele21
    (3.67 mil)

CLASSIC ALBUM and should sell a ton since its real music and an incredible voice.  This is what music needs all of the time.

Tuskegee

_________________________________________________

 2. Lionel RichieTuskegee
    (0.91 mil)
This is Lionel Richie teaming up with very popular country artists for a duets album featuring ALL of his biggest hits.  This better do well as its basically a Greatest Hits album and country music is very popular.
Up All Night

_________________________________________________

3. One DirectionUp All Night
    (0.90 mil

This group is a worldwide sensation and every teenage girl in the world loves them so they better sell like N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys.  But 900K as big as they are makes me laugh.

                                                   _________________________________________________

Whitney Houston - The Greatest Hits

4. Whitney HoustonThe Greatest Hits    (0.82 mil)

Again a Greatest Hits album by one of the most successful women artists in music history and she just died to increase her fan base and make her music that much more in demand.  What is funny is that this was released in 2000 and probably didn't do very well.

_________________________________________________

5. Various artistsNow 41
     (0.71 million)

Now THIS is what I was waiting to talk about as this album and the previous 40 sell like crazy because it is an album with ONE hit by each of today's artists.  Which tells me that NO ONE in pop music has any depth to make more than one or two good songs so the rest of the album sucks.  I think its both as today music is ALL regurgitated and all sounds the same.  And why wouldn't kids buy this as it has 20 songs from the radio instead of having to buy 20 different shitty albums. This album sums the current state of pop music perfect and I will give an example of each song just to further prove my point, if I can stomach listening to the songs.

SONG LIST  IN ORDER

1. LMFAO, "Sexy and I Know It" - GOOD GOD these guys are a fucking joke to music and they have that shitty club beat that sounds like every gay anthem out there.  They are the Chumbawumba and Right Said Fred of today's generation.  ONE OF MANY GAY CLUB SONGS THAT ALL SOUND THE SAME ON THIS LIST

2. Katy Perry, "The One That Got Away"   "Summer after high school when we first met, making out in your Mustang to Radiohead"  UGH this is the same dumb beat over the entire song...sounds forced and quite honestly Katy Perry is not as bad as most music because at least she can make fun of herself.  STILL A SHITTY SONG.
3. Lady Gaga, "Marry the Night"  And here we go again with the club beat anthem by Lady GayGay....she is the champion of gay people and that is fine but she is such a joke and a Madonna copycat it makes me laugh at her poor attempts.  FUCK THIS PIECE OF CRAP SONG.

4. Jessie J, "Domino" OK this has the same beat and almost the same type of chorus as every Katy Perry song...prove me wrong

5. Gym Class Heroes featuring Adam Levine, "Stereo Hearts"  Great another song with half singing and half rapping.  And you gotta love a tatted up Adam Levine singing like a girl.
6. T-Pain featuring Lily Allen, "5 O’Clock"  WOW another half rap half singing song.  And it is a slow rap with clapping noise and slow bass. And go figure it as a collaboration AND it has the autotune feature which is a staple of most shitty music today.

7. J. Cole, "Work Out" Correct me if I am wrong but this is the same song as #6 right. SOUNDS EXACTLY THE SAME

8. Pitbull featuring Chris Brown, "International Love" - GO FIGURE another club anthem that goes up and down with same repetitive beats and the "oh oh oh whoa" OH and ANOTHER half rap half singing song.....I think this is a trend.
I CANNOT GO ANY FURTHER AS THIS IS THE WORST.
Breathe Carolina, "Blackout"
Selena Gomez and the Scene, "Love You Like a Love Song"
Gavin DeGraw, "Not Over You"
Coldplay, "Paradise"
Adele, "Someone Like You"
Nickelback, "Lullaby"
Luke Bryan, "I Don’t Want this Night to End"
Toby Keith, "Red Solo Cup"
BONUS TRACKS: “NOW What’s Next” New Music Preview:
Sammy Adams, "Blow Up"
Hunter Hayes, "Somebody’s Heartbreak"
Susan Justice, "Eat Dirt"
The Wanted, "Glad You Came"
___________________________________________
Now what have we learned is club beats, half rap/half singing, whoa oh oh oh as most of your lyrics, collaborations and autotune is what sells.  Oh and naming cities such as Miami and New York works well.  OH and target gay people since they make up about 5% percent of the population of the US.
I AM FUCKING DONE...I hope this opened your eyes and ears to how bad it is today.
ENJOY a REAL TUNE!!!! from a very underrated Black Sabbath album

Black Sabbath - Back Street Kid (1976)

and BONUS LIVE VAN HALEN from 1983

Van Halen - Mean Streets (LIVE 1983)
Screw the sound quality this is VAN HALEN with Roth and Michael...the way it was meant to be

If We’re Evil or Divine We’re The Last in Line…Other Songs You Might Remember

I just want to ROCK...HARD....I am sitting here looking at Twitter trends and it makes me sick to see Adam Levine, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne trending.  As much as they want to think they are musically talented, they are not.  They have lame lyrics set to even lamer music.  Know this about today's music and I will put it in all caps to help you understand it better.

MUSIC HAS LOST DEPTH.

SEE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

And by "depth" I mean it has no feeling, no punch to it and no longevity.  I mean do you actually think 20 years from now you will be humming "Payphone" by Maroon 5 or "Stupid Hoe" by Nicki Minaj. (SEE LINK)

http://musicinducedcoma.wordpress.com/2012/02/02/207/

Even rock names of bands and album covers are lame.  I saw a metal band named "Deadguy" the other day.  Real Original.
And metal now is just who can grunt the most unintelligible....that is not music...sorry...

I posted album covers because I love them and they are much cooler then...

and now for the tunes.....I am purposely posting the lesser known tunes by these artists to prove my point that even lesser known songs by 80's artists still pack a punch today....ENJOY

I also posted them in their original form to bring you back to the days of MTV when you first saw these and rocked then.

One other note.....1981 was a damn good year for music

JUST ROCK PART TWO

I have to start out with the OTHER hit from The Knack

The Knack - Good Girls Don't (1979)
"And it's a teenage sadness
Everyone has got to taste.
An in-between age madness
That you know you can't erase
Til she's sitting on your face."

____________________________________________

Billy Squier - In The Dark (1981)
"You take no int'rest no opinion's too dear
You make the rounds and you try to be so sincere
You guard your hopes and you pocket your dreams
You'd trade it all to avoid an unpleasant scene
Can you face the fire when you see me there
Can you feel the fire will you love me in the dark"

____________________________________________

Blue Oyster Cult - Burnin' For You (1981)
"Burn out the day Burn out the night
I'm not the one to tell you what's wrong and what's right
I've seen suns that were freezing and lives that were through"

____________________________________________

Judas Priest - Heading Out To The Highway (1981)

(and yes I know the lyrics on these two song are gay but the songs rock and I don't give a shit.)
"Making a curve or taking the strain
On the decline, or out on the wain
Oh everybody breaks down sooner or later.
We'll put it to rights, we'll square up and mend.
Back on your feet to take the next bend!
You weather every storm that's coming atcha!"

____________________________________________
Judas Priest - Hot Rockin' (1981)
"Don't let it stop, don't let it end,
Please let it carry on and on and on again.

____________________________________________

Night Ranger - Don't Tell Me You Love Me (1982)

____________________________________________

Krokus - Screaming In The Night (1983)

"Sons of vengeance, can you rescue me
They got me tied up to a woe tree
They had me screamin' and alone in the night
I'm beginning to see what's wrong and what is right
What is wrong and what is right, oh, what is wrong and what is right"

____________________________________________

Dio - The Last In Line (1984)
"We don't come alone
We are fire we are stone
We're the hand that writes
Then quickly moves away"

____________________________________________

"Touch my gun but don't pull my trigger
Let's make history in the elevator
Or lock the door shine my pistol some more
Here I cum just ten seconds more"

____________________________________________

Skid Row - Monkey Business (1991)

"Blind man in the vox that will probably die
The village kids laugh as they walk by
A psycho is on the edge of this human garbage dump
And the vultures in the sewers are telling Him to jump"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8_rq7bhbkQ

____________________________________________

and JUST LISTEN TO THIS UNDERRATED SONG by Black Sabbath....classic Ozzy ...just listen and I promise you will like...
This song was dedicated to Ozzy Osbourne's father, who died in 1977
"Junior's eyes looked into the skies once more
Now he knew well, this life was hell for sure
He desperately tried, his fingertips stretched to the stars
Reaching for reason, along with the time and the scars
Yeah!"

____________________________________________

"So when they hit your town
You'd better get down
I'm telling no lies to you mister
'Cos they live for rock'n'roll
They'll try to steal your soul
Might even try to steal your sister, oh"
