Tailgating 2018 Cause high noon, your doom

It's the weekend and time for LSU to travel to Auburn and take them down.

Its the weekend and the Saints to host the Browns in the DOME and get back on track.

SAINTS

Saints (0-1) HOST the (0-0-1) better playing Browns who TIED the Steelers last week.  After the Saints Defense managed to make  Ryan Fitzpatrick look like Joe Montana Brady Brees Rodgers.  By the way Fitz has played for EVERY NFL TEAM.  on paper the Saints should destroy them but its the  Saints....

LSU

LSU on the other hand is ranked 12th heading to #8 Auburn where ANYTHING is possible....see

1988

In 1988 #4 Auburn traveled to Tiger Stadium with national title aspirations. Auburn (4-0) were held to just two field goals and Auburn's outstanding defense kept LSU scoreless through 58 minutes. However, with 1:47 left, QB Tommy Hodson found RB Eddie Fuller open on a crossing pattern for a touchdown on fourth and goal. Ironically, it was the same play Fuller had caught on 1st and goal, only to step out of the back of the end zone. The crowd eruption was so intense that it registered as an earthquake on the seismograph located in LSU’s Howe-Russell Geoscience Complex, though much of the lore surrounding the game is largely apocryphal.
Both Hodson and Fuller later said it was the most physical game of their college careers.
College Football News ranks this game as the 17th best finish in the history of college football.

1994

Auburn was on a 14-game winning streak when LSU traveled to Auburn in 1994, but it was LSU who led 23–9 entering the fourth quarter. LSU quarterback Jamie Howard threw five fourth quarter interceptions - three were returned for touchdowns - as Auburn extended their winning streak to 15 games with a 30–26 win. Auburn made one first down in the second half, yet scored 27 points in the comeback. Multiple players were hospitalized for dehydration after the game.

After the loss Jamie Howard received multiple threats.

1996
LSU defeated Auburn 19–15 in 1996 while "the Barn" burned to the ground across the street from teh Stadium After scoring a touchdown, Auburn trailed 17–15 and attempted the two-point conversion. LSU intercepted the pass and returned it for a 19–15 win. The cause of the fire was officially undetermined,[12] though according to investigators the most probable cause was a grill placed too close to the building by tailgaters, possibly to take cover from heavy rainfall.[12] The fire was shown during ESPN's national broadcast,[13] flames being seen as high as the Jordan-Hare east upper-deck. The game was never delayed, and the Auburn public address announcer continually advised fans: "The flames [were] outside the stadium." Because of the fire and the thrilling finish, the game became known as the "Barn Burner" or "The Night The Barn Burned".

2
001

game was moved to December 1 because of the September 11, 2001 attacks

2007

LSU's Byrd made a last-second catch in the end zone to win it for LSU, 30–24. Down 24–23 and driving late in the game, LSU was in field goal range with the clock running and one timeout left. However, in one of the most discussed play calls of the 2007 season Les Miles decided to try a long pass to the end zone before a possible FG attempt. Afterwards, Miles stated there was enough time for a 41-yard FG had the pass been incomplete, and the game clock proved him correct; though conventional wisdom argued the safer bet was to advance the ball a few yards, use the time-out, and try the field goal. LSU, despite finishing the year with two losses, would go on to win the SEC and BCS National Championship

2017
Auburn jumped out to a 20–0 lead early in the second quarter by scoring on each of their first four possessions: a 46-yard field goal, a 49-yard touchdown pass, a short rushing touchdown, and a 48-yard field goal. LSU trimmed the deficit to 23–14 before halftime on a 14-yard touchdown completion. After a scoreless third quarter for both teams, LSU cut Auburn's lead to 23–21 just 27 seconds into the fourth when D.J. Chark scored a touchdown on a 75-yard punt return that brought the Tiger Stadium crowd into a frenzy. Two possessions later, LSU took its first lead of the game, 24–23, on a 42-yard field goal. LSU tacked on a 36-yard field goal to make it 27–23 with 38 seconds left. Auburn's ensuing final drive ended with three straight incompletions and a sack, as LSU pulled off the comeback upset.

Under the lights where we stand tall
Nobody touches us at all
Showdown, shootout, spread fear within, without
We're gonna take what's ours to have
Spread the word throughout the land
They say the bad guys wear black
We're tagged and can't turn back
You see us comin'
And you all together run for cover
We're takin' over this town
Here we come, reach for your gun
And you better listen well my friend, you see
It's been slow down below,
Aimed at you, we're the cowboys from hell
Deed is done again, we've won
Ain't talking no tall tales friend
Cause high noon, your doom
Comin' for you we're the cowboys from hell
Pillage the village, trash the scene
But better not take it out on me
Cause a ghost town is found
Where your city used to be
So out

VAN F'N HALEN

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND and this past week Eddie Trunk had another one of his Top 20s and THIS time he went to......

VH aka VAN HALEN

EDDIE, ALEX, DAVE, and MICHAEL

I can't think of a time as a youth, pre-teen, teenager where my life wasn't consumed by VAN HALEN.

They are just IT....they emcompass EVERYTHING that was ROCK N' ROLL in the late 70's / early 80's.  I had the posters (see Memorial day and above and below) and the necklace and made sure to see them 4x in my life with one time being backstage.....

From the iconic sounds coming from Eddie's guitar that every kid tried to replicate to the thumping bass of Michael Anthony THIS band in a roundabout way started the HAIR BANDS of 80s.  Lead by one of the most gregarious front-men in history, David Lee Roth, whose vocals were only enhanced by one of the best rhythm sections in history, they blazed a trail that STILL hasn't been matched to this day.

EDDIE TRUNK'S TOP 20

So without further ado I give you MY Top 20

and YES I have THREE Van Hagar tunes, so sue me but you will agree they are the 3 best....

AND cause I said so

20 LOVE WALKS IN
(Sammy song #1 of 3)

"Some kind of alien
Waits for the opening"

 19 INTRUDER
(The intro to Pretty Woman from Album Diver Down is a classic in my mind and one of the best instrumentals by VH outside of Spanish Fly, Secrets and Eruption but you knew that and you might as well watch Pretty Woman to see when MTV ruled)

18 EEVERYBODY WANTS SOME
(Do I even intro this?  Better Off Dead...that is all)

"Look, I'll pay you for it, what the fuck?"

17 ATOMIC PUNK
(Classic from VH 1 not VH-1)

"I am the ruler of these nether worlds"

16 LITTLE GUITARS
(This one has a special place in my heart as I vividly remember standing backstage watching Eddie play this at the young age of 13 circa 1982)

'You say you're lonesome, just getting by
But you turn your eyes from me
Be sure you're hurting long before you fly 'cause, you've got me"

15 TOP JIMMY
(Top Jimmy cooks...that is all)

"They don't remember the place, but they remember the face,
And now everybody want to go"

14 THE DREAM IS OVER
(Sammy song #2 of 3)

"Oh, we're the lost generation
I hold fate from a string"

13 D.O.A.
(The first song from II to appear is the blistering DOA)

"They found a dirty faced kid in a garbage can"

12 HEAR BOUT IT LATER (Live 1981)
(Again with the LIVE MTV video)

11 SOMEBODY GET ME A DOCTOR
(Second and def not last II song....another smoker)

THE TOP 10

10 RUNNIN WITH THE DEVIL
(The VERY FIRST impression you had of VH as this is the FIRST song FIRST album...so THAT!!! and the video is so fucking cheesy its good....fuck you Kanye)

9 ROMEO DELIGHT
(Best album cover and back art EVER....period)
"I'm takin' whiskey to the party tonight

And I'm lookin' for somebody to squeeze"

8 AND THE CRADLE WILL ROCK (German TV 1980)
with a bonus of "You Really Got Me" from VH I
(more CHEESE....AHHH lip sync...fuck you Drake)

"Well, they say it's kinda frightnin'
How this younger generation swings
You know it's more than just some new sensation"

7 DREAMS
(Sammy song #3 of 3 and I think we all saw this video and were taken aback)

"We'll get higher and higher
Straight up we'll climb
We'll get higher and higher
Leave it all behind"
STOP WATCH and LISTEN
d

6 SO THIS IS LOVE? (Live 1981 Oakland)
(Another Fair Warning classic simply because of the RIFF and THIS video and another coming up are WHY Van Halen one of the best LIVE bands EVER...PERIOD....thanks to MTV when it was cool)

"Got me on pins and needles"

TOP 5

5 PANAMA
(The FIRST good song on 1984)

"Don't you know she's coming home with me?
You'l lose her in the turn"

4 LIGHT UP THE SKY
(FIRST song second side of album....for those of us who had that luxury)

"Come see your children, yea
They're lightin' up the skies
Won't recognize them anymore"

3 UNCHAINED (Live 1981)
(VIDEO VIDEO VIDEO...WOW captures VH in a nutshell and THIS could be easily my 1 or 2 also)
"Change, nothing stays the same
Unchained, and ya hit the ground running'

2 AINT TALKING BOUT LOVE
(FOUR songs into Van Halen 1 and you are STILL BLASTED...WOW)"I heard the news baby
All about your disease
Yeah, you may have all you want baby
But I got somethin' you need, oh yeah"

And Numero Uno is.....

is....

is....

is....

1 MEAN STREET
(Fucking MEAN STREETS....FIRST song into
arguably my favorite VH album next to II....its the blistering intro...the blusey riff, the heavy pounding bass, the lyrics...CLASSIC and HAD TO BE #1)

Try not to let the 1981 Italian fake performance ruin the song....geez

"At night I walk this stinkin' street past the crazies on my block
And I see the same old faces and I hear that same old talk"

OK SO WHAT YA THINK?

some history

FAIR WARNING Album Cover taken from this...see if you can find the pics from album cover

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND of racing etc

I will leave you with this.....next top 20 is either RUSH or AC/DC from Eddie Trunk...sure
